Man convicted of aggravated indecent assault in two cases

A Franklin man was convicted this week of aggravated indecent assault and other charges by a Venango County jury in two separate cases.

Frederick S. Walter II, 35, had been arrested in September 2015 by Oil City police in connection with an incident in January 2015. And he was arrested in December 2015 by Franklin police in connection with incidents in 2013.

Jurors convicted Walter in the two cases Monday following a two-day trial before Judge Robert L. Boyer.

In the Oil City case, he was found guilty of felony counts of aggravated indecent assault without consent and aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 and two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault without consent and indecent assault of a person less than 16.

In the Franklin case, Walter was found guilty of felony counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child, aggravated indecent assault without consent, aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 13, aggravated indecent assault of a person less than 16 and indecent assault of a person less than 13 and a misdemeanor count of indecent assault without consent.

District attorney Shawn White prosecuted the cases, and Walter was represented by public defender Matthew Parson.

Walter was accused in the Oil City incident of assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

The girl said during a forensic interview with Children and Youth Services representatives that she was getting ready for school when Walter, whom she did not know previously, told her to go to her room so she could listen to music, according to a criminal complaint filed by Oil City police.

The girl said that after she went to her room, Walter went into her room and was drunk, He then unzipped her pants and began touching her, the complaint said.

In the Franklin case, police said they determined he sexually assaulted a young girl multiple times in 2013.

Sentencing for Walter is scheduled Aug. 9.
