Man charged for reported sex assaults on girl

From staff reports

A Cranberry Township man was jailed Tuesday on multiple felony charges stemming from reported sexual assaults on a 13-year-old girl.

Terrance Richard Morrison, 44, is accused of committing multiple sexual acts on the girl and trying to get her to bring a female friend to his house for a sleepover.

A criminal complaint filed by Franklin state police says the girl’s grandfather found text messages that were sexual in nature, and then he and the girl’s father reported the incident to police in January.

The girl told police Morrison touched her multiple times and that the incidents began when she was 11 or 12 years old, the complaint said.

Morrison, when interviewed by police, denied any inappropriate conduct, although police said he didn’t seem surprised by the allegations.

Morrison was charged with felony counts of involuntary deviate sexual assault on a person less than 16 years of age, aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, seven counts of indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age and two counts of corruption of minors.

He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent assault on a person less than 16 years of age.

Morrison was placed in the Venango County jail with bail set at $25,000.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Central Court.
