Man arrested for resisting arrest in Franklin

A Philadelphia man is facing numerous charges for being uncooperative with police during a traffic stop Tuesday evening in Franklin.

Franklin police said officers were dispatched about 10:30 p.m. to 10th and Liberty streets for a report of an erratic driver traveling toward Sheetz.

When police made contact with the driver, he said he didn’t have his driver’s license with him and told police his name was Andrew Hay.

Signs of impairment were observed by officers and the driver was uncooperative during the testing, preventing it from being completed, police said.

The man physically resisted police when they tried to take him into custody for driving under the influence, forcing police to use a Taser to secure him, police said.

Once in custody, a photo identification revealed the man’s real name was Dante Lamar Mack and his driver’s license was found to be suspended for DUI-related offenses.

Mack refused to take chemical tests when he was transported to UPMC Northwest and was taken back to the Franklin police department to be held for arraignment before district judge Matthew Kirtland on charges including DUI, resisting arrest, false identification to law enforcement and driving with a suspended license.

A preliminary hearing for Mack is scheduled Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.
