Man arrested for assaulting construction worker

A Maryland man has been charged in connection with the assault of a construction worker in Pleasantville Borough last week.

Franklin state police said Joseph Love, 27, was identified as the suspect with the assistance of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland.

Love shoved a flagger with IA Construction to the ground during the afternoon hours of June 24 after she yelled at him for trying to drive around multiple vehicles that were stopped on Enterprise Road at the intersection with Merrick Street, police said.

Police said Love then grabbed the flag from the ground and appeared to be getting ready to strike the woman with it, but nearby patrons who witnessed the incident stopped him.

Love got back into his vehicle and continued through the construction zone, which set off a search by law enforcement to locate him.

Love has been charged with harassment, disorderly conduct and reckless driving as well as violations in obedience to authorized persons directing traffic, obedience to traffic control devices and duty of driver in construction and maintenance areas.
