From staff reports

A Clarion man is facing charges for breaking into a house in Emlenton and struggling with a man who lived in the residence.

Emlenton police said in a criminal complaint that at about 6 p.m. Monday, Calin Carbaugh, 28, who was armed with a knife, came to the door of a residence on Main Street in Emlenton, banged on the door and demanded keys belonging to a woman.

A man who lived in the house tried to close the front door, but Carbaugh shoved and kicked the door open, causing damage to the screen door and marks on the door, the complaint said.

Carbaugh and the man who lived in the house then engaged in a struggle, and a tool box and curtain were damaged, the complaint said.

The man Carbaugh was struggling with received a cut in the leg during the altercation, according to the complaint.

Police found Carbaugh in the neighborhood of the house he broke into at about 7:30 p.m. and took him into custody after a brief struggle, the complaint said.

Carbaugh has been charged with felony counts of burglary-overnight accommodations, person present, bodily injury crime and criminal trespass-break into structure, a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary count of harassment.

He was placed in the Venango County jail after being denied bail due to statements he made that “indicate an unwillingness to comply with any bail conditions.”
