Longtime Seneca auto business has closed

From staff reports

Thomas Auto Sales on Route 257 in Seneca has closed.

“I opened it 31 years ago and have been in the same place the whole time,” said Fred Thomas, founder and owner of the business. “It afforded me a good living and that’s all I ever wanted to do – be in the car business.”

The business offered used car sales, automotive services, and new and used auto parts.

For the past 30 years, the owner’s son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Patty, worked at the business. The family previously owned and operated a Thomas Auto Parts store in Titusville.

Thomas has listed both the business and the building, a multi-sectioned structure on a seven-acre lot, for sale.

“I’m 78 years old and my son wasn’t interested in running the whole thing so I decided I would look for a buyer,” said Thomas. “And, the economy hasn’t been all that good lately, not as good as in years past. But the main reason is that I just don’t have the drive I used to have. It was enough so I’m getting out of the business.”
