Longtime Oil City police officer retires

Yesterday marks the retirement of Oil City police officer Kevin Daly.

In his 20 years with the department, Daly has served as senior training officer, was a part of the Drug Task Force through the Attorney General’s Office, was a member of the city’s tactical response team, coordinated the crash reporting system with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and helped organize the Buckle Up program.

In a letter addressed to Police Chief Bob Wenner that was presented to City Council on Sept. 22, Daly wrote:

“I am very proud to have been employed by the Oil City police department over the past several years. It has been a childhood dream job of mine to be a police officer and, as an added bonus, I have been blessed to serve the community in which I was raised and educated in as a police officer.”

Wenner said Daly was someone who stepped up and went above and beyond in the line of duty.

“His life reflects a commitment to service,” Wenner said. “I’m proud to have worked with him…He will be missed.”
