Local teens participate in Camp Cadet

Seventeen youths representing Venango County are participating in the Pennsylvania State Police Camp Cadet program this week at Allegheny College in Meadville. The camp is a week-long, overnight program for youths ages 13 to 15. The purpose of Camp Cadet is to instill self-discipline, self-respect and self-esteem while teaching paramilitary discipline and courtesy. Cadets participate in a variety of instructional lessons including radar, traffic stops, forensics, building searches, polygraph and use of force. Activities include an obstacle course and platoon competitions. Camp will conclude with a graduation ceremony on Friday.
