Local 4-H’ers compete at Pork Activities Day

Two teams of four members each from Venango and Clarion Counties traveled to Lebanon Expo grounds to compete in the annual 4-H Pork Activities Day. 4-H members that competed in the Senior Division are Andrew Blauser, Rachel Champluvier, Smanatha Heller and Robert Schick. In the Junior Division those that competed are Elise Flinspach, Cody Heller, Garrett Schick and Kord Stewart. All 4-H’ers tested their knowledge by participating in the Skill-a-thon event, where they were asked to identify hog body parts, feed ingredients, equipment and management practices. Robert Schick placed 2nd in the senior division and Cody Heller placed 5th in the Junior Division. Andrea Blauser placed 1st in the intermediate photography contest. The teams then went on to compete in the Quiz Bowl event, where each team was asked a variety of questions from hog breeds, management practices, animal handling and general hog knowledge. The teams represented the Venango and Clarion Counties well by placing 4th in the Junior Division and 5th in the Senior Division. (Submitted photo)
