Libraries to implement new technology

From staff reports

The three libraries in the Oil Region Library Association will be gradually making the switch to RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology in the coming months.

This switch will enable staff and patrons to complete the check-out and check-in process more quickly, efficiently and accurately.

The libraries also will begin offering updated self-checkout options for a more individualized experience.

In order to implement the new technology as efficiently as possible, Oil City Library will be temporarily closed from Dec. 24 through Jan. 3.

The Franklin and Cooperstown locations will do the same at a later date.
