Knox man waives hearing on rape, other charges

From staff reports

A Knox man charged with more than 100 counts related to the repeated rape of two young children waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in Clarion County court.

Timothy Ray Bell, 43, is accused of 36 felony counts each of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 years of age, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child.

He is also charged with five misdemeanor counts of sexual intercourse with a dog.

The charges stem from incidents that are alleged to have occurred while the two children were staying at Bell’s residence on Madison Road in Beaver Township.

A criminal complaint says the incidents occurred between Jan. 17, 2010, and Aug. 30, 2018. The assaults began when the children were about 6 and 4, the complaint says.

Bell was interviewed Jan. 30 and admitted to the crimes. The complaint says Bell told police he sexually assaulted the children about 18 or 20 times.

Bell is lodged in the Clarion County jail in lieu of $100,000 monetary bail.
