Kennerdell woman charged with simple assault, harassment

From staff reports

A Kennerdell woman has been jailed after Franklin state police said she began choking a man early Saturday morning.

Police said at 3:30 a.m. Joann Taylor went into Dean Knapp’s bedroom at North Kent Road in Kennerdell and started to choke him with both hands while he slept.

According to police, he promptly woke up before Taylor punched him in the left eye and scratched him around the neck.

Police said Knapp left the residence and went to his parent’s camp before going back to get his dog. Upon arriving at the house, he said Taylor was walking around holding a six-inch kitchen knife.

Knapp returned to his parent’s camp but did not report the incident until 5:35 a.m.

Police said Taylor was taken into custody and was charged with simple assault and harassment.

Taylor was arraigned in front of District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey and was housed in Venango County jail after failing to post $15,000 bail.
