Kelly introduces Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act

From staff reports

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th District, along with other members of the House from both parties, introduced the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act.

The bill would make permanent the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act’s excise tax reduction on breweries, wineries and distilled spirits producers, according to a news release from Kelly’s office.

Similar legislation was introduced in the Senate.

“Pennsylvania has a long history in the craft beverage industry, particularly in the production of beer,” said Kelly, who co-chairs the House Small Brewers Caucus. “The commonwealth produces more barrels of beer than any other state.

The bipartisan bill, Kelly said, would “ensure these pillars of our local communities continue to benefit from tax reform.”
