It’s time to submit recipes to cookbook contest

If your family could benefit from $500 worth of free groceries, you should consider entering the The Derrick and The News-Herald’s Creative Cookbook contest.

Each October, the newspaper publishes a collection of reader-submitted recipes. A panel of judges chooses several of the submitted entries as finalists and then, after a taste test, one lucky cook/baker is chosen to receive a $500 gift certificate to be used at an area grocery store.

There are other great prizes, too! The rules and guidelines for the contest are published in the newspaper. So check it out and then start mulling over those family favorites. The deadline to submit entries is Sept. 30.
