Home destroyed by fire; 3 dogs die

From staff reports

A Seneca home was destroyed by fire late Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze broke out at about 5:30 p.m. at the residence of Stanley and Sally Rozanski at the intersection of Tarklin Road and Carnes School Road.

The Rozanskis had reportedly left the home about an hour before the fire.

“They didn’t see any smoke before they left the home,” Seneca fire chief Paul Marsh said.

Marsh confirmed the residence was a complete loss and the homeowners don’t have insurance. Marsh also said three dogs died in the fire and the Red Cross has offered to help the family.

“I’m just glad that we’re all safe. It’s a terrible loss and to lose the dogs too,” Sally Rozanski said.

Fire departments from Seneca, Pinegrove, Rockland, Cornplanter, Emlenton and President were at the scene.
