Historic preservation plan input session planned Jan. 6

A meeting regarding updates to the statewide preservation plan will be held at Friday, Jan. 6, at DeBence Antique Music World, 1261 Liberty St., Franklin. Members of the public may participate in a free facilitated discussion which begins at 10:30 a.m.

The session is co-hosted by the Oil Region Alliance and the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office.

The special public input session will be held after the regular meeting of the ORA Heritage Advisory Council. The council meeting starts at 9 a.m. with the public input session beginning at or shortly after 10:30 a.m.

The Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office administers all federal and state historic preservation programs in the Commonwealth and requires all state historic preservations offices to develop a statewide historic preservation plan every five years.

Because Pennsylvania’s current statewide preservation plan expires at the end of 2017, the PASHPO is currently leading the effort to develop the next plan and is currently striving to gather as much information and guidance as possible from the public.

Reservations are not required, but because complimentary refreshments will be provided, those planning to attend are asked to reply by Tuesday, Jan. 3, to the attention of Marilyn Black, vice president for Heritage Development, at the Oil Region Alliance office at (814) 677-3152, Ext. 105 or mblack@oilregion.org.
