Historic Preservation award winners announced

Winners of the 2018 Oil Heritage Region Historic Preservation Awards have been announced.

Here is a rundown of the winners:

– Mr. and Mrs. James Ashbaugh of Franklin will receive an award for Preservation Education/Initiative.

– Christ Episcopal Church in Oil City will receive an award for Preservation Stewardship.

– Ross Ruot and Matt Huber will receive an award in the category of Reconstruction for their property at 112 W. Spring St. in Titusville – the future home of Stonehouse Jack.

– Love In the Name of Christ of 220 W. Central Ave. in Titusville will receive an award in the category of Enhancement Project.

– The Heritage Society of Oil City will be recognized for the new stainless steel archway entrance to Hasson Park in Oil City.

– Titusville Renaissance, a non-profit agency celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, will receive an award for Preservation Education/Initiative.

The awards are sponsored by the Crawford County Historical Society, Friends of Drake Well, Historic Franklin Preservation Association, Oil City Heritage Society, Oil Region Alliance, Titusville Historical Society, Titusville Renaissance, Venango County Historical Society and Venango Museum of Art, Science & Industry.

This year’s winners will be recognized on May 19 at a banquet that will conclude a day-long Preservation Workshop at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church on East State Street in Pleasantville.
