Heritage Festival concerts can be seen live on TV, Facebook

From staff reports

Live outdoor concerts, always a mainstay in the annual Oil Heritage Festival schedule, have been reconfigured into virtual performances.

“We’re still going to have them, just not outside,” said Susan Williams, president of the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce that coordinates the annual community celebration.

The concerts were scheduled at outdoor sites, including Justus Park.

Health directives due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, restrict outside gatherings to include no more than 250 patrons. The musical performances typically draw far larger crowds.

Williams said the concerts will be broadcast live on two sites – Oil Heritage Festival Facebook page and channel 22 on Comcast’s Oil City television cable. The musical groups will be playing at indoor sites that will be closed to the public.

The schedule includes:

– Today – 6 p.m., Mostly Brass community band; winners announced for front porch decorating contest; crowning of the Oil Heritage Festival queen; performance by the Wyllis Street Band

– Friday – 5 to 7 pm., High Above 80 band; 7:30 to 10 p.m, Route 8 Band .

– Saturday – 7 to 10 p.m., Lawyers, Guns and Money

Williams said the Facebook page and the website oilheritagefestival.com will carry regular updates on the Oil Heritage Festival schedule of events.
