Free food boxes available to OC school families

From staff reports

Free food boxes will be given to families in the Oil City Area School District through a “Farmers to Families” program.

The giveaway is being conducted as a partnership between Oil City high and middle schools, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Catholic Rural Ministries.

The food boxes will be handed out at 5 p.m. Friday, May 21, to the first 650 families with students at Oil City high or middle school who arrive at the school.

Each box will include beef, chicken, or pork, some dairy products like milk, butter and cheese, and vegetables.

Families who want to collect a food box should drive to the back of the school building, where they will be greeted by members of the Oil City High School National Honor Society, student council, and WEB programs.

Participants will need to provide their child’s student identification or a copy of their current school schedule to verify that they qualify for this program.
