Franklin Sheetz will request OK for liquor license

From staff reports

Sheetz in downtown Franklin will be the next gas station of its kind in the area to seek a liquor license.

A public hearing prior to Franklin City Council’s meeting on Monday will be held to request a license transfer from the former Genova’s Restaurant in Oil City to the Sheetz at 1107 Liberty St.

If approved, the Altoona-based Sheetz Inc. will file an application with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in the hope of launching a construction project early next year.

The project would add seating to the Franklin Sheetz while allowing the store to remain open to customers, according to Sheetz public relations manager Nick Ruffner.

Locally, the Sheetz in Clarion reopened this summer after undergoing extensive renovations to allow for the sale of alcohol on its premises.

The Titusville Sheetz was also approved for a liquor license in August 2017 and has since begun to sell alcohol.

The Cranberry Sheetz is set to open in fall after an estimated $750,000 construction project that will add a 30-seat restaurant and an alcoholic beverage cooler room to the store.
