Franklin School Board OKs salary hikes, other personnel matters

At Monday’s Franklin School Board meeting, various personnel and employment matters were addressed, including salary increases of 2.5% for several district employees and $1,000 contributions to the 403(b) retirement accounts for Superintendent Eugene Thomas and business manager Kimberly Eaton. The board approved stipends for district maintenance and custodial staff and a $5,000 stipend for John Bianconi, principal of the district’s cyber education program. Substitute teachers’ pay was raised to $150 per day. New hires included Donald King as the junior high school dean of students and Zachary Baughman as the athletic trainer. Some board members expressed concerns over potential budget issues and the need to consider cutting duplicate positions.
