Franklin Rotary Club recently purchased and donated dictionaries to all third-grade students in Franklin Area School District, Valley Grove School District and St. Patrick’s School. This is the tenth year the rotary has donated dictionaries to third graders. The rotary club has now distributed 2,330 dictionaries to the three school districts.

The dictionaries are the property of the student, and the content of the dictionaries are such that the students will be able to use them as they pass through the elementary grades and beyond. The dictionaries include not only a comprehensive dictionary, but also biographies of U.S. presidents, the United States Constitution, The Declaration of Independence, maps of the seven continents, information about the 50 states, weights and measures, sign language, Braille language, information about the planets and the solar system and more.

Franklin Rotary Club is one of many organizations that partner with The Dictionary Project to distribute dictionaries every year to students throughout the United States. More information can be found at www.dictionaryproject.org.
