Franklin man accused of strangulation

From staff reports

A Franklin man is facing burglary and strangulation charges after an incident that occurred around 3:30 a.m. Thursday at a Prospect Avenue residence in Sugarcreek Borough.

A criminal complaint filed through District Judge Patrick Lowrey’s office said Walter Andrews, 44, was at the home, where he choked and threatened to “thrash” another man.

Andrews struck the man and dragged him around the home, causing scrapes and redness to the man’s body, and Andrews also would not allow the man to leave the residence, the complaint said.

Andrews is facing felony counts of burglary and strangulation, in addition to misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, simple assault and false imprisonment.

He was arraigned before Lowrey and placed in Venango County jail on $5,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday in Central Court.
