Five injured in Pittsburgh Road crash

Franklin state police have released the details about a two-vehicle crash that injured five people Thursday night along Pittsburgh Road in Sandycreek Township.

Police said the accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. as Austen Barnett, 22, of Reno, tried to enter Pittsburgh Road from Polk Cutoff Road and was struck by a vehicle driven by Dana Coast, 44, of Harrisville, coming from the opposite direction.

Coast’s vehicle hit the driver’s side door of Barnett’s vehicle, and both vehicles sustained major damage, police said.

Barnett and Coast were injured, along with three juvenile passengers in Coast’s vehicle. They were taken by Community Ambulance Service to UPMC Northwest for treatment.

Sandycreek and Polk volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.
