A fire destroyed a home, garage and several cars at 500 Carnes School Road in Cranberry Township late Wednesday morning.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, according to Paul Marsh, chief of the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department.

Marsh said the house had collapsed by the time his department responded at 11:11 a.m.

“I can say there was some sort of explosion,” Marsh said. “The house was on the ground and the garage was fully engulfed on our arrival, as well as four cars.”

Marsh said the cause of the blaze is unknown and that a state police fire marshal is expected to investigate the scene this morning.

According to Venango County 911, the last unit cleared the scene around 1:15 p.m.

Fire departments from Pine Grove, President, Cornplanter, Rockland, Emlenton, Knox and Washington Township assisted, along with Community Ambulance on standby.
