Fire destroys garage on Rockland-Nickleville Road

From staff reports

A garage on Rockland-Nickleville Road was destroyed by fire Friday.

The blaze broke out at about 12:05 p.m. Rockland fire chief Kevin Williams said no one was home when the fire started in the garage and moved into the house at 1448 Rockland-Nickleville Road.

No one was hurt, but Williams termed the damage “a total loss.”

“The garage is completely gone. The house is still standing, but I don’t think it’s livable,” Williams said.

The chief said a passerby contacted police.

Rockland firefighters were assisted by volunteers from Kennerdell, Emlenton, Seneca and St. Petersburg. Franklin state police and Emlenton Ambulance Service were also on the scene, which was cleared at about 3 p.m., Williams said.
