Fire departments receive state grants

Forty fire departments and ambulance organizations throughout Crawford, Forest and Warren counties have been awarded approximately $411,804 from a grant program administered by the office of the State Fire Commissioner.

The grants were announced Tuesday by Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-65th). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not general fund tax revenue.

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or debt reduction.

Among those receiving grants were:

Crawford County

Centerville Volunteer Fire Department – $11,543

Centerville Volunteer Fire Department , for EMS operations – $7,037

City of Titusville Fire Department – $11,727

Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department – $12,096

Townville Volunteer Fire Department – $ 12,280

Townville Volunteer Fire Department, for EMS operations – $7,037

Forest County

Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department – $11,543

West Hickory Volunteer Fire Department – $ 11,727

Warren County

Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department – $11,543
