FHS graduation date changed; actual ceremony still planned

From staff reports

Franklin High School has postponed its graduation ceremony from June 7 to Thursday, June 18.

The FHS Class of 2020 will be recognized during the ceremony, which is set for 7 p.m. at the high school stadium complex.

A rain date will be Friday, June 19.

“We are holding out hope that Venango County will be upgraded to green by Gov. Wolf, allowing us to have a full ceremony on the 18th,” high school principal Christina Cohlhepp said.

“If we are not in the green by the 18th, we will make arrangements for an alternative ceremony,” she said.

Social distancing and other recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control will be followed at the June 18 ceremony, Cohlhepp said.

These practices include:

– Graduates will be seated on the football field at least 6 feet apart from each other.

– Graduates are limited to four family members/guests in attendance.

– Family members and guests will be seated in groups at least 6 feet apart in the stands.

– Family members and guests will be asked to wear face masks.

– Graduates and their family and guests will be asked to get in their vehicles and leave the grounds immediately after the ceremony and to not congregate on school grounds.
