Diocese planning to livestream Easter Triduum services

From staff reports

The Catholic Diocese of Erie is in the midst of its Holy Week At Home initiative.

Many pastors in the diocese have been livestreaming Masses from their parishes each Sunday, and the diocese will livestream Masses and services the next three days. The schedule includes:

Today – Holy Thursday Mass celebrated by Bishop Lawrence Persico at 7 p.m.

Friday – Good Friday services conducted by Persico at 3 p.m.

Saturday – Easter Vigil Mass celebrated by Persico at 8:30 p.m.

The livestreams can be viewed by going to ErieRCD.org.

The Holy Week at Home initiative also includes publication of a special, digital-only edition of Faith magazine available to all. The magazine, which includes an Easter message from Persico, can be downloaded and shared from www.ErieRCD.org/inspiration.

The ideas for the initiative that were presented by the diocesan Office of Faith Formation can be accessed at www.ErieRCD.org/HolyWeekAtHome.

A door decoration, prayer, short video and activity are listed for each of the next four days.

The initiative grew from a social media posting by the Oregon-based Missionaries of the Holy Spirit.

The diocese said the campaign and livestreamed events are designed so individuals and families can make Holy Week and the Easter season meaningful, given the fact communities can’t gather to worship during the coronavirus pandemic.
