Cub Scout Pack 37 will hold sign-up night Monday

From staff reports

Cub Scout Pack 37, of Franklin, will hold a sign-up event for the Family Scouting program at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Sandycreek fire hall.

Boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade may participate in hands-on activities and learn more about Scouting.

The Family Cub Scout program is offered by the Boy Scouts of America as a way to help children learn about leadership, conservation, citizenship, community service and outdoor ethics.

The Family Scouting concept was adopted recently to help all members of the family, regardless of gender, get involved in Scouting, learn together, and become better citizens.

Weekly meetings are typically held on Mondays at various spots in the Franklin area, including the Sandycreek fire hall. Many of the current members live in the Franklin and Valley Grove school districts, but families from all communities are welcome to join.

For most meetings, children will meet in smaller groups, known as dens, based on age and gender. Once a month all members of the pack will meet for large group activities and educational activities at the fire hall.

The new BSA Lions program for children in kindergarten will be offered. Unlike previous years, the new Lions program is designed to follow the main Cub Scout program more closely, while being geared toward the learning capabilities of the youngest members.

Interested children and their parents or guardians can sign up for all levels of Cub Scouts at Monday’s meeting. Registrations are accepted throughout the year.
