Cranberry Festival is Saturday

A full schedule of events is planned for the 16th annual Cranberry Festival. The festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday in Morrison Park. The park is located along Allison Road in Seneca.

The festival features free children’s games and activities, an arts and crafts show, a car and motorcycle cruise-in and more.

Events scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. include the arts and craft show, the car and motorcycle cruise-in, the Cranberry Festival basket raffle and paint a car activity and the children’s spin art and coloring activity in the children’s area.

Food will be available to purchase from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Cranberry Bake Off starts with judging at 11:15 a.m. Items should be delivered to the gazebo area by 11 a.m. The winners will be announced on the main stage at 12:30 p.m. All items must contain cranberries and the baked goods will be sold to benefit the festival.

Kid’s workshops will start at 11 a.m. in the children’s area and will continue until supplies are exhausted.

A teddy bear clinic will be held at 11 a.m. Children may take bears that are in need of repair.

The Hunt for Cranberry Red will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Interested persons should stop by the food ticket booth for a scavenger hunt checklist and then take their completed forms back to the information booth for a prize.

The Backwoods Olympics will be held at 2 p.m. Those participating should register before 2 p.m. The registration fee is $5.

The Minute to Win It contest will be held in the children’s area at 4 p.m. The contest is for those ages 8 years old and older.

There is limited parking available at Morrison Park.

A free shuttle bus will run from Seneca United Methodist Church, 196 E. State Rd., or Christian Life Academy, 224 S. Main St., Seneca.

People should also take a lawn chair or blanket for seating at the park.

The Oil Region Library Association’s book collection bus will be at the festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. People may drop off gently used books and media for the organization’s upcoming sales.

A Touch-a-Truck event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cranberry Mall. There will be trucks and heavy equipment for children to climb on and explore.

Various Seneca and Cranberry businesses will have deals and events leading up to the festival. A picnic lunch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today and a corn roast is scheduled for 5 p.m. today.
