Clintonville man died in power plant accident

From staff reports

A Clintonville man has been identified as the Scrubgrass Power Plant employee who died in an accident Tuesday at the plant.

Thomas Allen Flinspach, 20, was an assistant plant operator at the Kennerdell facility, according to his obituary information.

Flinspach, a former Rockland resident, was a 2018 Cranberry High School graduate. He also completed a welding course at Venango Technology Center.

Grant Rea, the assistant chief with Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, said Flinspach was using a crane Tuesday morning to lift out scrap from around a conveyer belt in the basement of a building at the power plant. He fell 60 feet down a chute, Rea said.

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

Franklin state police and Emlenton Ambulance also responded to the scene.

Flinspach was an active member of Rockland Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter and with the fire police. He was also involved with the Venango 4-H program.
