Clintonville fire company holding public meeting

From staff reports

Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m. today at the fire hall to discuss funding with elected officials of surrounding municipalities.

Deputy fire chief Grant Rea said the department has invited representatives from Clintonville and Barkeyville boroughs and Scrubgrass, Irwin and Victory townships.

“Funding is a struggle anywhere right now no matter which department you’re at,” Rea said. “We don’t currently receive any funding from any of our municipalities, so we’re trying to get some funding from them to defer costs.”

Rea said a municipal fire tax may be discussed.

The meeting is open to the public.
