The event will feature baked goods, raffles and photos for $5 for a CD.
Tri-County is located at 9562 Route 322, Shippenville.

More information about Tri-County Animal Rescue Center is available on its Facebook page, by calling (814) 918-2032 or emailing contactus@Tricounty-arc.org.

Meanwhile, another artistic event will also benefit the Shippenville center.
The seventh grade art students at Franklin High School are working with Tri-County to produce watercolor paintings of the center’s animals.

The paintings will be up for bid during a silent auction at the start of the junior high choir and band Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the Franklin High School auditorium. The silent auction will end Friday, Dec. 15.

The highest bidders of each of the 17 works of art will be called via the phone number left on the bid sheet. Winners may drop their payment off in the high school office. Once payment is received, the winner will get their artwork.

All funds from the auction will be donated to the shelter for food and supplies.
Hopefully, a few animals will also find their ‘furever’ homes as well.
The silent auction is open to staff and students at the school and members of the public.

Meanwhile, Novah, the dog, is still looking for a place she can call home… permanently.

“Let’s find PPAR foster Novah her forever home for Christmas! I’m able to let her stay with me for another week or two, so I’m really asking everyone to once again share Novah,” Leah M. Anson posted on the group’s Facebook page.

Adoption applications can be found on the group’s website at www.pparfranklin.com

Clarion PAWS is located at 11348 Route 322, Shippenville, Clarion River Hill, between Scrap Happy and Clarion Electric. The adoption center is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Full of energy

Venango County Humane Society in Seneca has a bundle of energy named Gidget available for adoption.

Gidget

Gidget, a Terrier mix, is a year-old spayed female. She has a reddish, brown coat with white on her chest, and dark brown eyes.

“Her previous owner tells us that she’s hyper when you first meet her, and she loves attention. Gidget has never been around other animals, so she would have to have a meet and greet. A moderate walk on leash and obedience lessons will give her a daily mental and physical challenge and also ensure a calmer indoor dog,” the shelter said in a PetFinder listing.
The shelter’s hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
It is closed Sundays and holidays.

The humane society is located at 286 S. Main St., Seneca. More information on the Venango County Humane Society is available by calling (814) 677-4040.

2018 Venango County dog licenses available for purchase

Dog licenses for 2018 are now available at the Venango County treasurer’s office in the courthouse annex at 1174 Elk St. in Franklin.

State law requires that all dogs aged 3 months and older be licensed each year. The cost of an annual license is $8.50. A lifetime license is available at a cost of $51.50.

If the animal is spayed or neutered, the cost for an annual license is $6.50 and the lifetime license is $31.50.

Discounts are available to senior citizens and people with disabilities.

If a dog is lost or stolen, a license provides information that can help reunite the animal with its owner.

Failure to license a dog is a summary offense and could result in a maximum fine of $300 for each unlicensed dog. The minimum fine is $50 plus court costs.

The Department of Agriculture Bureau of Dog Law in Harrisburg will mail notices to county residents reminding them to purchase the dog licenses. There is no cost to the county for the mailings.
In addition to the treasurer’s office, the Oil City Agway, the Venango County Humane Society and the Seneca Veterinary clinic also sell the licenses.

The licenses may also be purchased online using the Venango County website. There is a $1.95 convenience fee charged by the provider of the service, and a 2.49 percent fee will be charged on purchases exceeding $78.

The application may also be downloaded and printed from the county website and completed and mailed – along with a check or money order payable to Venango County Treasurer, P.O. Box 708, Franklin, 16323.
