Celebrate with mom this weekend

“A Fun Time for Me and You, A Painting for Two” will liven up the VFW in Clarion as the public is invited to participate in a unique paint party. The event will benefit the Dancer’s Studio National Fund. Light refreshments provided.

Email dsnationalsfund@yahoo.com to reserve your seat. Limited seats available. The Saturday session at 10 a.m. will cost interested painters $45 per couple for a shared canvas.

Or, celebrate by giving back. The Officers Down 5K celebrates officers who put their lives on the line daily to keep our communities safe and honor those who have fallen in the line of duty. While officers give to the community on a daily basis, it is now our time to give back.

Registration for the 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 10 a.m. The Kids Fun Run begins at 9:30 a.m.

Community Day is from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and will include lunch, live music, activities and more.

The event benefits the Oil City Police Department. For more information, visit the Officers Down 5K Facebook page at www.facebook.com/events.

The “Make Music Day” festival will be making its way to Pittsburgh and 34 other U.S. cities on June 21.
The outdoor music festival promises to be a celebration of music and artists of all kind. It is free to the public as classical and punk rock groups will be storming streets and parks all around the nation.

Pittsburgh will help continue this tradition that began in 1982 in France. Spaces all throughout the Steel City will be highlighting local talent. You can become a performer too! You do not need a permit to play on city streets or in parks.

Performers can also contact businesses and ask to perform inside or in front of their venues. As long as they say yes, you can both be a part of the festival by signing up at makemusicpittsburgh.org.

If you are not musically inclined, the festival could always use more volunteers! If you are interested, just contact pittsburgh@makemusicday.org.
