CATA to revise fare structure

From staff reports

Crawford Area Transportation Authority (CATA) will revise the fixed route bus fare and bus pass structure in Venango and Crawford counties effective Jan. 1.

The price of a one-ride adult fare in Crawford County will change from $1.25 to $1.50 per trip. All other fares remain the same, according to a CATA news release.

“Adjusting the Crawford County base fare brings Crawford and Venango counties to the same level,” CATA General Manager Tim Geibel said. The base fare in Venango County has been $1.50 since before the two counties merged service in 2016.

Fares in Crawford County for individuals approved for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) paratransit transportation will change from $2.50 to $3 per trip, according to the release.

To offset the fare increase, the release said, multi-ride bus passes will be available providing discounted per-trip fares. A $5 adult four-ride pass and a $5 youth eight-ride pass will be available for sale on the bus; at the CATA offices in Meadville and Oil City; online at www.catabus.org; or through the Token Transit or CATA-Just Ride Apps.

A $20 adult 20-ride pass can be purchased at the offices and through the online and app methods. Passes purchased prior to Jan. 1 will be accepted through June 30, the release said.
