Body of Titusville teacher found in Forest County

From staff reports

The death of a Youngsville woman whose body was found Wednesday night in Forest County has been ruled a suicide.

Jessica Salapek, 34, a teacher at Titusville Middle School, was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Marienville state police trooper Shawn Nicewonger.

Shortly after her vehicle was located, Salapek’s body was found nearby in a remote area near Guitonville Road in Green Township at about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Patrolman Benjamin Leach of the Youngsville Police Department said Salapek was reported missing around 9 a.m. Wednesday when she didn’t arrive for work.

When her employer called Salapek’s home, her boyfriend said she hadn’t come home Tuesday night and that he didn’t have any contact with her Tuesday evening.

Leach said a trace on Salapek’s cellphone indicated the last communication Salapek sent was a text to her boyfriend before she left work Tuesday. She was last seen at about noon Tuesday.

Marienville police said Thursday their investigation is continuing but that no suspicious circumstances exist.
