Allegheny Boulevard retaining wall work remains on schedule

From staff reports

Work to rebuild more than 500 feet of the Route 62/Route 8 (Allegheny Boulevard) retaining wall in Sugarcreek Borough is on schedule to be completed in mid-October.

PennDOT spokeswoman Jill Harry said support bars are being installed this week in the old wall, and construction on the new wall will begin next week.

The project includes the removal and reconstruction of 540 feet of the southern end of the retaining wall, which runs between the northbound lanes of Route 62/Route 8 and the Allegheny River. Work also includes roadway reconstruction.

There are no detours due to the project, but both northbound and southbound traffic is restricted to one lane between Oil City and Reno.

The contractor is Francis J. Palo, of Clarion. The contract cost is $3,643,567, which was paid with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
