5 parole absconders picked up in Oil City

Oil City police, in conjunction with state probation and parole agents, arrested five parole absconders Monday and Tuesday in Oil City.

Police said the individuals were located at residences throughout the city, and all were taken to either the Venango or Crawford county jails.

The five were identified as Samantha Stevenson, 26, Joseph McFadden Jr., 29, Shawn Powell, 25, David Ritchey, 26, and Shawn Stroup, 27. Ritchey lives in Franklin, and the other four live in Oil City.

Stroup was taken to the Crawford County jail, and the others were taken to the Venango County jail.

Ritchey was charged with misdemeanor counts of false ID to law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said a search warrant executed Monday led them to search the residence of Stevenson and McFadden, and based on the warrant, those two were charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
