5 complete Master Gardener program

From staff reports

Five local people have completed a 40-hour Penn State Extension Master Gardener educational program.

The graduates include Linda Anderson, Susan Courson, Dave Rodgers, Susan Rodgers and Marie Veon. They are ready to complete their internship and join the ranks of active Master Gardener volunteers.

The Penn State Extension Master Gardener Program is a volunteer program that educates participants in science-based horticulture research and best practices. These volunteers spend 40 hours of class time, pass a test and then volunteer their time to educate the community through local projects and programs.

During these times of social distancing, the Master Gardeners can be of service to home gardeners through a Garden Hotline, where they can answer questions on a multitude of gardening topics and give advice on trees and shrubs, annuals and perennials, fruits and vegetables, soil and composting, lawn care, garden and household pests and more.

The hotline can be reached at (814) 437-7607.
