2 charged for breaking into Halyday Run home

From staff reports

Two Oil City residents are facing charges for breaking into a residence Tuesday morning on Halyday Run Road.

Franklin state police said in a criminal complaint that a neighbor observed Matthew Culver, 38, and Cigi Gervasoni, 31, driving slowly by the residence in a black Jeep.

The neighbor said the pair parked the Jeep, then walked to the back of the residence and entered the home at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, the complaint said.

The neighbor called 911 after an hour passed because the Jeep was still parked there, police said.

When police arrived they saw Culver and Gervasoni entering the woods behind the residence, according to the complaint.

Police detained them in the wooded area, according to the complaint.

Police said they found a pocketknife and a bag of suspected crystal methamphetamine on the ground near Culver and Gervasoni.

When searching Gervasoni, police said they found a pocketknife on her and a floral print backpack with multiple small plastic bags containing “a white powdery substance,” police said.

Police said they contacted the owner of the property who said Culver and Gervasoni didn’t have permission to be at the residence.

The pair were both charged with felony counts of burglary-overnight accommodation, no person present and criminal trespass-break into structure as well as a count of possession of a controlled substance.

They were arraigned before district judge Andrew Fish and confined to the Venango County jail after failing to post bail.

Preliminary hearings for Culver and Gervasoni are scheduled May 6 in Central Court.
