1-year-old injured in high-speed car chase

A car chase in Grove City sent an infant to Grove City Medical Center, according to Franklin state police.

Dylan W. Funk, 21, of Grove City, was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser with a suspended license with a 1-year-old infant in the back seat when Grove City police attempted to stop him for a summary traffic violation.

Funk fled when they tried to stop him, traveling on North Street before going east on Route 208. The pursuit continued into Venango County where Funk crossed over State Route 8 at approximately 90 miles an hour without stopping at the stop sign. He fled an additional four miles before getting off of Route 208, where he attempted to hide behind a residence. He eventually got back on to Route 208 and again failed to stop at a stop sign.

The chase ended when Funk attempted to maneuver around and nearly hit a school bus on the south side of the road. He lost control of his vehicle and drove approximately 180 feet through a yard and struck a large tree.

Funk was uninjured and taken into custody, the infant required emergency transport by Clintonville Ambulance for moderate facial injuries. The infant was in a booster seat but was not properly fastened. Funk’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
